The Face of Henley’s fourth annual Companies Challenge was held at Badgemore Park Golf Club on Thursday 11th October 2007.
A successful night was had by all with £780.00 being raised for the charity.
After a closely fought competition, which saw challengers from eight teams tackle subjects from James Bond to sport, Mercers Solicitors emerged victorious, closely followed by Waitrose. The other participating companies were EA Kench, Peer and Hilton, Cooper Son and Caldecott, Indigo Rye, the Bell Surgery and Blue Space Property.

The Organising Committee would like to sincerely thank all the local companies who once again supported this event. Also a big thank you to Badgemore Park Golf Club for providing the venue and the delicious supper, Hugh Legh for his ongoing support at all our functions and providing the audio support and finally to Mr Toby Greenwood, our fellow trustee and fabulous Quiz Master who once again presided over the evening.
A Christmas Fayre was held at The Henley Rugby and Football Club on Wednesday 15th November 2006 raising just under £2,500.
The Face of Henley’s third Companies Challenge Quiz Night was held on Thursday 19th October, 2006 at Badgemore Park Golf Club with £572 being raised for the Charity.
A Christmas Fayre was held at The Henley Rugby and Football Club on Thursday 17th November 2005 raising just under £3,000.
A large variety of items, from fine clothes to paintings were on offer and a well stocked coffee and cake stall helped those seeking light refreshments.
The Organising Committee would sincerely like to thank all those who sponsored us to run the event and all those who supported us on the day. We look forward to seeing everyone again to support our 2006 Christmas Fayre which will be held on Wednesday 15th November at the Rugby Club.
The Face of Henley’s second Companies Challenge Quiz Night was held on Thursday 10th November, 2005 at Badgemore Park Golf Club with £721 being raised for the Charity.
Eight teams competed and the contestants had to tackle a range of questions in categories which included news, history, geography, sport, TV, movies, music and pot luck.
The winners by just half a point, was the team from E A Kench, accountants in Henley, who won the trophy for the second year running. Wooden spoons were handed to members of the Indigo Rye team, which has hairdressing salons in Caversham and Wallingford.
The other teams taking part were from Barclays Bank, Waitrose, the Bell Surgery, Drakeford-Lewis and Hilton, Cooper Son & Caldecott and Mercers Solicitors.
The Organising Committee would like to congratulate the team from E A Kench for retaining the title, the other companies for taking part and to Barclays for sponsoring the hire of the room and to Badgemore Park Golf Club for providing the curry supper.
A Ladies Doubles tennis tournament was held on Thursday 19th May 2005 at the Peppard Tennis Club.
Following a morning of rain the matches were able to get underway after lunch. Forty ladies took part and Janet Bishop and Valerie Esher eventually came out as our first ‘Face of Henley’ Tennis Champions.
The day raised £388, meaning that after six months of hard work we are now in a position to buy the much needed shower trolley for The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children and also help furnish a Communal Room at a residential unit for mental health sufferers in Henley.
The charity would sincerely like to thank all those who took part in the day. A huge thank you also to the Peppard Tennis Club for the use of their wonderful facilities and to Gary Collyer and his team at Waitrose, who donated all the food and drinks and continue to support our causes.


A Villagers Quiz Night was held at Badgemore Park Golf Club on Thursday 10th March raising £788.66.
Teams from Henley, Shiplake, Lower Shiplake, Harpsden, Sonning Common, Wargrave, Witheridge Hill, Sonning Eye and Kingwood took part. Quiz Master Toby Greenwood tested their knowledge on a variety of subjects including movies and pot luck.
By the end of the evening the team from Kingwood came out on top and the wooden spoons went to Sonning Common.

A companies Quiz night was held at Badgemore Park Golf Club on Thursday 11th November with over £1,000 being raised.
Quizmaster Toby Greenwood grilled the teams on a range of subjects, including food, music, art, literature and pot luck and, after battling it out for more than 2 hours, the team from accountants E.A. Kench and Co. were presented with the winners trophy from the holder of The Face of Henley title, Laura Brindle. But, it was a reverse in fortunes for last years triumphant team, captained by Lucy Roy, who collected the wooden spoons.

The teams taking part were Waitrose, Kealy Farmer, Mercers, E.A. Kench and Co., Cooper Son and Caldecott, Hunt and Nash, Drakeford-Lewis and Hilton and Lucy Roys team.
A Spring Fayre was held at Badgemore Golf Club in May 2004 which raised £357.70.
A team of nine runners raised awareness for The Face of Henley Charity by participating in the Henley Half Marathon in October 2003.
Laura Brindle, holder of 'The Face of Henley' title, had the very important task of setting the 1,000 competitors on their way and presenting prizes to the winners.

In September 2003, a Barn Dance was held at White Pond Farm, Stonor. All who attended enjoyed country dancing to the band, Ring O Bells, a pig roast supper and plenty of drinks. £500 was raised for the charity.
