Providing financial support for those experiencing tragedy or hardship within the Henley Community

Recipients

Since the Charity was set up in 2002, we have raised approximately £65,000 to help local individuals and causes in and around the Henley area. Here are some examples of donations made to worthy recipients:

  • Donated £800 to The Lions Club of Henley-on-Thames to purchase the 2010 Christmas parcels for the elderly and needy in Henley and the surrounding area.
  • Donated £300 to Shiplake Primary School to help finance a residential trip for two children with Down’s Syndrome.
  • Donated £1,000 to Nomad to help finance a residential week for 12 young people.
  • Donated £1,620 to The Lions Club of Henley-on-Thames to purchase the 2009 Christmas parcels for the elderly and needy in Henley and the surrounding area.
  • Donated £5,000 to assist the Henley Schools Partnership to provide a counselling service for 2009/2010 to young and school-aged children in Henley. These children will receive counselling for any emotional need/trauma including bereavement, bullying, family breakdown, coping with parents abusing alcohol and drugs, self-harm and eating disorders.
  • Donated £5,000 to the Henley Rugby Club (via a requested donation) to purchase equipment.
  • Donated £5,960, in conjunction with the Big Little Charity, to a single mother with mental health problems to cover nursery fees for her young son to benefit both mother and child.
  • Donated £123.60 for a car repair & MOT for a single parent suffering financial hardship.
  • Donated £4,100 to Headway, a local charity who helps and supports people with brain injuries, to purchase a much needed Motomed machine for wheelchair users.
  • Donated a total of £1,600 to purchase beds, vacuum cleaner, fridge-freezer, tumble dryer, babies buggy and carrycot for local families and single parents suffering financial hardship.
  • Donated £3,032 to the Henley on Thames Lions Club to help with the purchase of 2007 Christmas parcels to give the very elderly and needy families within our community.

  • Donated £99 to purchase car road tax for a local Henley couple suffering personal and financial hardship.
  • Donated £260 to a single mother living on income support and child benefit to enable her to purchase a child’s bed, paint to decorate her flat and a vacuum cleaner.
  • Donated £550 towards cost of a reception for an older Henley couple wishing to fulfil their dream of renewing their wedding vows. The couple have suffered considerable personal and financial hardship.
  • Donated £100 for speech therapy course for a Down’s Syndrome child.
  • Donated £1,480 to pay for childcare for a mother suffering terminal cancer.
  • Donated £321.86 to purchase two car seats, two high chairs & Christmas presents for twin girls to aid a family facing financial hardship.
  • Donated the remaining £1,477.63 needed to complete the funds of £3,500 to purchase a much needed wheelchair for a local lady identified by Mobility Trust.
  • Donated £480 to pay for childcare and purchased a £230 TV/DVD for a mother of four battling cancer.
  • Donated £400 to purchase new carpets for a local Henley pensioner.
  • Donated £250 to Camp Mohawk for Winter Wonderland.
  • Purchased a much-needed shower trolley for £3,393 for The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children.
  • Donated games & DVD vouchers to the value of £200 to a residential unit for mental health sufferers in Henley.
  • Donated £250 to purchase new carpets to a local Henley family who live on benefits.
  • Donated £2,610 to The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children to purchase a shower hoist & three slings.
  • Donated the remaining £1,260 needed to complete the funds to set up two ‘Parent Rooms’ at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford instigated by a Shiplake couple.
  • Purchased and installed a trampoline and safety net for The Chiltern Centre for Disabled Children, based in Henley to the value of £600.
  • Helped a local family with long-term health problems who survive off income support to purchase much-needed bedroom furniture to the value of £750.
  • Purchased a £1,600 Spa Chair for a lady resident at the West Street Unit for Handicapped Young Adults in Henley-on-Thames.
  • Purchased a second hand car, in conjunction with Henley Round Table, for a single mother in Henley, who lives off benefits and had a son with severe Cerebral Palsy.

  • Paid for a trip for Edie Harris to visit her Grandfather’s grave in France fulfilling her late father’s dream.
  • Made a donation to a law graduate to help his fundraising for VSO.

Welcome to the Charity

The Face of Henley Charity was set up in 2002. Jane Moss and Sarah Flindall work voluntarily to help their community by raising money for those suffering or experiencing tragedy within the Henley-on-Thames area.
